Drywalling a custom home build

The stage of drywall is a major milestone in the process as you are "closing up" walls and getting ready for the down hill.

When drywalling or sheet rocking the process is pretty straight forward. Sheets of drywall or also known as gypsum board are delivered to your site. They are then cut to size and tacked up with nails followed by being secured with drywall screws.

All cut outs are also made for rough-ins such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC placements.

Note: screws are a vital aspect to the process to maintain quality and avoid nail popping over time.

Fun fact - Sheetrock the popular term is actually a brand of drywall / gypsum board sheets.

One decision that will need to be made for the drywall process is if you want Rounded or Squared corners.

It is also important for quality control to assure you have moisture resistant drywall or cement board in the showers.

The sequence on the drywall process when building your custom home in Texas on your lot is:

Drywall - Tape & Float - Texture

All aspects needing their full punch list before moving onto the next.

Stained Tongue and Groove Porch Ceiling

Custom home building with stained tongue and groove ceiling gives a strong custom and personal touch. Material: Pine that can be stained (or painted) to your personal preference!

Tongue and groove is best installed after all rough in's are complete and inspections have been completed as the ceiling will be closed up once installed. Material can be stained/painted on the ground before instal or after installed when planned accordingly.
